Uniper signs seven-year tolling agreement for Arneburg Battery in Germany with Neoen
- Uniper secures full tolling rights (30 MW / 78 MWh) for the Arneburg Battery developed by Neoen in Germany
- Seven-year agreement strengthens Uniper’s portfolio and supports Germany’s energy transition
Uniper has entered into a tolling agreement with Neoen, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, securing for its portfolio the installed capacity (30 MW / 78 MWh) of the Arneburg Battery in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. The contract will commence in 2027 and run for seven years.
Under the agreement, Uniper will have full control over the optimization of the battery, while Neoen will manage the asset’s operation and maintenance. This partnership gives Uniper access to an important new battery asset in Germany and enables the company to optimize the asset across all relevant market channels – from providing ancillary grid services to participating in wholesale markets.
We are delighted to partner with Neoen, one of the world’s most advanced battery developers. Uniper is a leading generator of power, offtaker of power from independent renewable sources, for example through Power Purchase Agreements, and supplier of energy to businesses. Agreeing battery tolls like this offers a way for us to further diversify our portfolio and support the energy transition. We are proud of this first transaction and look forward to applying our optimization expertise to Neoen’s Arneburg battery.
Carsten Poppinga, CCO Uniper SE, said:
I’d like to thank Uniper for their constructive approach which enabled us to secure a truly win–win agreement.
With a substantial pipeline of projects in Germany, I am confident this marks the beginning of a strong collaboration between our two companies.
Christophe de Branche, Neoen’s Director of Energy Management
