A woman was rushed to hospital after being struck by a car in a hit-and-run near Manchester’s Gay Village. Officers are searching for the driver involving in an incident on Minshull Street on Thursday evening (January 8).

Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian shortly after 6.30pm. The woman’s injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing, GMP says.

No arrests have been made so far and enquiries are ongoing. A police spokesperson said: “The driver left the scene, and efforts are being made the find them.”

A cordon was in place on Minshull Street on Thursday evening with police and paramedics seen in attendance. Part of the road was taped off where it meets Canal Street.

Debris could be seen left in the road following the incident, with multiple police officers in attendance. The road has since reopened.
