A Glasgow acca punter has netted a life-changing sum of money, helped by the last gasp victory of The Lost King at Kempton Park on Wednesday.

The Ladbrokes customer selected four horses for a £6 Lucky 15 which consisted of four single bets, six doubles, four trebles and one fourfold. The total outlay was £90.

The bet was placed on a betting terminal in one of the bookmaker’s Glasgow shops on horses that were all running at the Kempton evening meeting. Then over a heady couple of hours each horse finished first at odds 5-1, 12-1, 9-1 and 18-1 respectively.

The closest finish came in the feature 7f handicap, the second leg of the bet, in which The Lost King produced a rapid flourish to catch and pass the Oisin Murphy-ridden 13-8 favourite Popmaster to score by a neck.

Had The Lost King finished second the punter would have only collected £9,234 when the actual return was a staggering £129,354.

Not one of the selections was favourite and each different jockeys and trainers. Billy Mill won by a length, The Lost King by a neck, Port Road by half a length and the final horse of the night, Sonnerie Power, breezed home at odds of 18/1, winning by two lengths.

Ladbrokes spokesperson Alex Apati said: “The Lost King no doubt has a new superfan; a late surge from the 12/1 shot has changed the life of our Scottish punter in what will likely go down as the best bet of 2026.”
