WWE SmackDown Spoilers & Results (1/9/26):
- WWE starts SmackDown in Germany with the biggest possible superstars, as returning WWE legend Randy Orton comes out to a thunderous applause. Orton barely got a word in before Trick Williams, who will make his in-ring SmackDown debut tonight, would interrupt. Trick wanted to make a name for himself, verbally running down Randy. Orton was concerned with only one thing right now: picking up his 15th world title. However, the “Viper,” acknowledged Trick Williams, saying he had the “goods,” but he needs to remember who he’s dealing with and never to turn his back on the legend that is Randy Orton. The “Apex Predator” stated that if Trick pulls off a stunt like that again, Trick will not be whooping anything because Randy will “kick his a*s.” Williams got physical with Orton, and Randy taught him a thing or two by unloading on him, which ended in Trick eating a Draping DDT. Orton would celebrate, but The Miz would cheapshot Orton, almost landing a Skull-Crushing Finale. Orton would push off, and for the second week in a row, deliver a devastating RKO to the “A-Lister.”
- Rey Fenix made his way to the ring as he will face off against an already down Trick Williams in the latter’s in-ring debut. It was a rocky start for Trick, considering what he went through with a WWE legend just a few moments back, giving Fenix the opening to execute his high-flying game plan. That said, Trick would immediately bounce back and go on a tear. On multiple occasions, such as after a 360 Spinning Pump kick and modified Book End, Williams had Fenix on the ropes, but could not secure the win. Towards the end of the match, Rey would keep the momentum going with an Adios, Amigo. Fenix would scale the top rope to finish off Trick, but would get caught mid-air. Trick tried another Book End, only to get countered with a Victory Roll. Fenix almost had him, but Trick would roll through and hold on to Fenix’s tights to secure his first victory, in his debut no less, on SmackDown.
- Backstage, Byron Saxton caught up with an ecstatic Damian Priest, a week after his massive win against Aleister Black in an Ambulance Match. Priest said since everyone is putting their hats into the Undisputed WWE Title conversation, he wants to do the same. Drew McIntyre would enter the fray, signaling that it might be him that Priest is challenging one day when he wins the title. McIntyre would issue a spoiler while taunting Rhodes with Dusty Rhodes’ watch. Drew said that Rhodes will not be able to keep his emotions in check and will get disqualified in the first fall, giving Drew time to finish it off and become Undisputed WWE Champion in Germany.
- Up next, Alexa Bliss, without her partner Charlotte Flair by her side due to illness, challenges Women’s United States Champion Giulia for the championship. Giulia was put to the test tonight, as future WWE Hall-of-Famer inductee Alexa Bliss brought it tonight. It was pretty even throughout. Bliss would go for the Double Knees, hitting it. Alexa would get overzealous, allowing Giulia to counter and hit her with the Arrivederci Knee. Giulia was going to go for the kill with a Northern Lights Bomb, but Bliss would have other plans, getting out of the hold and setting up Giulia for the Sister Abigail DDT. Kiana James would cause a distraction before Bliss could do anything. Bliss would pull James into the ring to get her out of the equation. Bliss would scale the ropes, looking to hit Twisted Bliss. Unfortunately, Lash Legend, with the ref’s back turned, pushed Bliss off, allowing Giulia to hit the Northern Lights Bomb to retain.
- Backstage, Nick Aldis has made it official: Jordynne Grace is now part of the SmackDown roster. Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre would interrupt proceedings, giving Aldis a great idea. Tonight, Grace will make her in-ring debut against Alba Fyre. Also backstage, Byron Saxton caught up with Matt Cardona, with the former Broskie ecstatic for his return to WWE. His friend, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, welcomed him, but Cardona got right to business, saying he’s coming for the title.
- MFT takes on The Wyatt Sicks in 8-Man Tag Team action. As many expected, this was a war from start to finish. Dead even at the beginning, Talla Tonga would go on an absolute rampage, prompting the leader of The Wyatt Sicks, Uncle Howdy, to get his hands dirty. At the climax of this match, Howdy had MFT leader Solo Sikoa, as well as right-hand man Tama Tonga, against the wall, delivering Uranages left and right. Sikoa played mind games, threatening to steal or destroy the lantern that was once held by the original patriarch, Bray Wyatt. Howdy would get distracted, leading to Tama hitting the Cutthroat and handing the victory to his family tree.
- Jordynne Grace makes her in-ring debut against Alba Fyre. Grace mauled Fyre, hitting her with everything she had. Jordynne would execute a Package Powerbomb, leading to a near-fall, if not for Chelsea Green interfering. Grace would throw Fyre towards Green and finally end this match with a Torture Rack Bomb. Grace could not celebrate long, as WWE Women’s Champion Jade Cargill would make it clear that she thinks Jordynne isn’t special, and now that she’s on her show, she’ll find out soon enough, with Cargill reiterating she’s that b*tch.
- For the second week in a row, United States Champion Carmelo Hayes defends his title in a U.S. Open Challenge. We saw Nathan Frazer get attacked backstage by #DIY before Axiom would come to his aid. Apparently, Frazier was supposed to be the one challenging Melo tonight. Instead, the “Shinobi Assassin” and “King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura would step up to the plate. Nakamura systematically dismantled Melo tonight, relentlessly focusing on Hayes’ left leg. Shinsuke dominated, but then, he made a fatal error. As he was going in for a Baseball Dropkick, with Carmelo in the Tree of Woe, Hayes would get out of harm’s way. Melo would go for a Frog Splash, but missed, landing knees first. Shin would go for the Kinshasa and hit it, only for a near-fall. Melo was mere moments away from losing the U.S. Title, mustering little to no offense throughout the bout. Suddenly, Melo hit a Hail Mary with the First 48. Carmelo did not waste time, and despite hobbling on one leg, he scaled the ropes and hit Nothing but Net to retain the championship.
- SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis announced four huge qualifying matches for WWE SmackDown in London.
- For the main event of the evening in Germany, it’s 3 Stages of Hell for the Undisputed WWE Championship, as Cody Rhodes defends against Drew McIntyre. It was three grueling stages, with McIntyre securing the fall through nefarious means, and Rhodes putting in effort to stay alive and secure the second fall. Locked inside the cage for the final stage, Rhodes had Drew’s number. Unfortunately, an interference from a returning WWE star would cost Cody big, allowing Drew McIntyre to become #AndNEW Undisputed WWE Champion in controversial fashion to end this action-packed night in Germany.
That’s all for LIVE WWE SmackDown spoilers and results on January 9, 2026, as they happened in Berlin, Germany.
