Unique and “haunting” new horror movie Good Boy has confirmed a UK release.
The film, which has earned a perfect 100% fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes, is distinctive in that it is told from a dog’s perspective.
Deadline has now confirmed that fans in the UK will be able to watch the movie on streaming platform Shudder alongside those in the US, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Good Boy focuses on a dog (played by director and co-writer Ben Leonberg’s own pooch Indy) who moves with owner Todd to a family home in the countryside.
However, the dog senses unease in the house, including invisible presences, glimpses of the previous resident’s horrible demise, as well as warnings from a ghostly dog.
Todd also begins to be taken over by a dark influence, and Indy must fight against the malevolent forces to save his best friend.

“Ben Leonberg’s debut is a singular experience in perspective-driven horror,” said Shudder’s SVP of Acquisitions and Production, Emily Gotto.
“Told entirely through the eyes of Indy, a devoted dog whose terror and determination to save his human become our own, the film delivers a haunting and emotional experience that introduces a surprising standout performance from Indy and a strikingly assured first feature from Leonberg.”
The movie received acclaim from critics following its premiere at SXSW earlier this year, with The Hollywood Reporter‘s Frank Scheck writing: “Good Boy works well enough on its own terms, managing to sustain sufficient tension throughout the course of its smartly concise 73-minute running time.”
“Leonberg crafts a thoughtful, unnerving, and heartrending portrayal of how utterly terrifying it can be for a dog when his whole world is upended and he’s unable to understand why,” added Bloody Disgusting‘s Meagan Navarro.
Good Boy will stream on Shudder in the UK and US.
