The band will perform at Electric Bristol on Tuesday, February 24.

Featuring up of childhood friends Joe Hicklin and Callum Moloney, the duo are known for their energetic blend of punk, blues and soul—a sound that has earned them a growing national following.

Their debut album, Postindustrial Hometown Blues, explores working-class life and emotions through a raw, poetic lens.

Their latest single, Sluglife, was recently premiered on Steve Lamacq’s BBC 6 Music show and follows other releases such as Plaintive Native and Dragged Up A Hill (And Thrown Down The Other Side).

Joe says of Sluglife, it’s “a song about living low to the ground and going slow.

“Feeling guilt for needing a bit of time to pull yourself up by your bootstraps.

“It’s about working through the self-hate that can come through hard times.”

Big Special have also collaborated with Sleaford Mods on a track titled The Good Life.
