Residents in Fitzrovia have the opportunity to ask Transport for London (TfL) about its plans for Oxford Street at a special event at Fitzrovia Community Centre, before the current public consultation closes this month.

The Mayor of London has proposals to transform Oxford Street, including part-pedestrianisation of the western section between Orchard Street (Selfridges) and Great Portland Street (Ikea) which means that all motor traffic and cyclists will be banned.

Under the current proposals, buses and taxis and all other traffic would be diverted north of the western section but continue to operate along the eastern section from Great Portland Street to Tottenham Court Road and Charing Cross Road.

On Monday 12 January at 6.00pm, Councillor Patrick Lilley (Labour, West End) will be hosting a hybrid public meeting with senior TfL officers for residents of Fitzrovia, Soho, Mayfair and Marylebone.

“This meeting is an opportunity for residents to ask their own questions directly to TfL about the proposals and their potential impacts,” says Lilley.

You can register to attend in person or online, and submit a question in advance, using this form. You do not need to attend the meeting for your question to be considered.

Ask TfL about Oxford Street changes, at Fitzrovia Community Centre, 2 Foley Street, London W1W 6DL. From 6pm to 7.30pm Monday 12 January 2026. West End ward residents can also contact Cllr Patrick Lilley via Westminster Council.
