Police have launched an extensive investigation after the body was found on a path in Coatbridge.
Emergency services were called to the cycle path at around 7.30am this morning following reports of an unresponsive man between Centre Park Drive and Coatbank Street.
Sadly, the 51-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
His family is aware and being supported by officers.
The death is currently being treated as unexplained by police as their investigation continues.
A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
Police have assaured the public that officers will remain in the area and that they can approach them with any concerns or information.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Extensive enquiries are ongoing after the body of a man was found on a path in Coatbridge.
“Around 7.30am on Sunday, January 11, 2026, we were called to a report of an unresponsive man on the cycle path between Centre Park Drive and Coatbank Street.
“Emergency services attended and the 51-year-old man was pronounced dead.
“His family is aware and being supported by officers.
“The death is being treated as unexplained and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
“Officers remain in the area and anyone with any concerns or information can approach them.”
