Eight people were taken to hospital following a serious crash in Co Antrim on Sunday afternoon.

Police said that the Moira Road in Crumlin was closed in both directions between Nutts Corner roundabout and the Ballydonagh Road.

Emergency services were called at the scene on Sunday including the PSNI, six ambulances and the air ambulance.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said: “NIAS received a 999 call at 14:05 on Sunday, 11th January, following reports of a road traffic collision in the Moria Road area, Crumlin.

“NIAS dispatched six emergency ambulances, three ambulance officers, two HART Teams and the Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were also tasked to the scene.

“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, four patients were taken to Antrim Area Hospital by Ambulance while another four patients were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, three by ambulance and one by Air Ambulance.”
