The Met Commissioner, Sir Mark Rowley, doesn’t often get the chance to brag about London’s successes, but he is justifiably upbeat that there were fewer than 100 homicides – 97, in fact – last year. By contrast, there were 109 in 2024. As he also observes, every homicide shatters a family, and last year’s victims included eight teenagers, but the downward trajectory is unequivocally good news.
