A second man has been arrested after a fatal crash on a busy Bristol high street yesterday (Sunday, January 11).
A cyclist was hit by a car on North Street, Bedminster and despite best efforts of members of the public and emergency services, the man sadly died at the scene.
BristolLive reported that a man in his 20s was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop, and driving while unfit.
In an update this morning (Monday, January 12) the police force said a teenager has also been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit.
At the time of reporting, both suspects remain in police custody.
Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene of a crash in Bedminster around 12.30pm yesterday.
The male cyclist died at the scene. Police said his next of kin were informed and are being supported by a specialist family liaison officer.
The car involved allegedly left the scene before police arrived, but an investigation was carried out and officers located the car.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “A second arrest of an adult teenage male was made.
“He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving while unfit.
“Both males remain in police custody.”
