One of London’s most influential independent salon collectives, Blue Tit, is going global with the opening of its first-ever international salon, in Copenhagen. Renowned for its seventeen lifestyle and BCorp salons across London’s most iconic neighbourhoods, Blue Tit has built a reputation for creativity, community and sustainability. Despite its scale, the collective has retained a distinctly boutique approach, with each salon designed to feel individual, character-led and deeply rooted in its local area. Blue Tit Copenhagen brings this ethos to Scandinavia for the first time, with a space set to become the city’s hottest hair destination.

Located just moments from Nørrebro’s coolest streets, and surrounded by shops, bars and restaurants, Blue Tit Copenhagen is the perfect location to stop for a moment of self-care before exploring the city.

The Story

At the helm is salon owner Mads Ruus, whose vision for the space centres on connection, creativity and education, bringing the energy of Blue Tit London’s hair scene to Copenhagen. Originally from Denmark, Mads spent over twelve years in London building his career as a Blue Tit stylist, educator and creative leader within the collective, later becoming Head of Blue Tit’s Academy and a Global Creative Director at Blue Tit for organic, biodynamic haircare brand Oway. Now returning to his original home, Mads leads Blue Tit’s first international salon, creating a space designed to inspire both clients and the wider hairdressing community.

Salon Design

From the moment clients step through the door, the salon breaks away from tradition. With no reception desk or waiting area at the front, visitors are welcomed straight into the heart of the space. The interiors celebrate the original architecture, with curved walls echoed through bespoke curved shelving and sculptural styling stations, all colour-drenched for a bold, cohesive finish. The design merges Mads’ love of Scandinavian hygge and minimalism, with London’s cool vibe and Blue Tit’s renowned individuality.

One of the most distinctive features lies in the backwash room, where the salon nods to the building’s former life as a restaurant. Original metal-plated walls remain, softened with light blue hues and warm lighting to create a calming retreat for clients during treatments. A palette of deep greens, dark terracotta and flashes of red continues throughout the space, resulting in an interior that feels playful, expressive and cosy.

Mads Ruus, Owner of Blue Tit Copenhagen says, “I’m incredibly excited for this next chapter. My vision was to bring a slice of what Blue Tit London does best to Copenhagen, creating a space where clients can come in and feel part of a community as much as a destination. A place to unwind, connect with friends and enjoy a pamper.

Everything Blue Tit stands for sits at the heart of the Copenhagen salon’s identity, with a strong focus on being rooted in the local neighbourhood while reaching beyond it. This will be a true melting pot for anyone looking to experience the energy and vibe of Blue Tit London, reimagined in Copenhagen.”

Expansion and Sustainability
Following a landmark year of growth, the Copenhagen opening marks a defining moment for Blue Tit. In 2025 alone, the collective launched four new salons across London, each space remaining individual in character, while balancing spirit and deep connection to its local community. The move into Copenhagen represents the brand’s biggest expansion to date, setting the foundation for an international future.

Blue Tit Founders, Matt Gebbie and Andi Hinteregger comment: “When we opened our first Blue Tit salon in Dalston in 2011, we always dreamed of expanding internationally, and launching our first overseas salon in Copenhagen feels like a perfect fit. Having Mads, who has been with us for over a decade, lead our first international launch is so special and a dream come true. We’re so excited to welcome clients through the doors.”
Sustainability sits at the core of Blue Tit’s identity. As the UK and Europe’s first salon collective to achieve BCorp certification, the brand is committed to leading positive change within the hair and beauty industry. Bringing the brand’s creativity, values and sustainability ethos from London to Copenhagen, this opening is a significant chapter in Blue Tit’s journey and an exciting addition to the city’s cultural landscape.
