A new website ismypubfucked.com uses official data from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) to identify which pubs will be most affected by the increases, and have put together what they are calling the “F***ed Pub Index” (FPI).

They have compared the 2023 Rating List, under the current rates, with the 2026 Draft Rating List, under the new rates due to be introduced in April, to help pubgoers identify the local boozers that most urgently require customer patronage.
The FPI gives a score between 0-100, measuring how each pub will be affected by the rate changes.

Analysing over 46,000 pubs across England and Wales, the index has shown that nearly 80% are facing increases, with 11% classified in the site’s “F***ed” tier or worse.
Ben Guerin, the website’s designer, said: “This tool exists to shine a light on what pubs are up against – and to help you find one near you that could use your support.”

However, the website points out that business rates are just one of many pressures on the hospitality sector, with rising wages, higher National Insurance, increased alcohol duty, and high energy costs all contributing factors.
The “most f***ed pub” by rateable value increase is the Trafalgar Tavern in Greenwich, which faces a £279,000 hike (+120.8%), according to the site.
The worst by percentage is the Sun Tavern in Bethnal Green, where a hike of £70,800 would equate to a whopping 632.1% increase, the site says.
