Save

We know it’s the depths of January and most of us are hunkered up binge watching Heated Rivalry or one of the many hot TV shows out at the moment, trying to save every last penny of that December pay day. However, there’s always that one friend with a January birthday or our New Year’s resolution to get up early on the weekend and head to a gym class that requires us to leave the house. Whatever the reason for your weekend travels, don’t get caught out by any disruptions with this handy guide.

Travelling to Gatwick Airport or Brighton

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January: due to Network Rail engineering, rail journeys to both Gatwick Airport and Brighton will be disrupted. Services from London Bridge will involve a replacement bus service, but direct routes can also be taken via Victoria Station. Allow more time to travel to these destinations this weekend.

London Underground Piccadilly line

Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 January: There is no service on the entire line, including Friday and Saturday Night Tube. Use alternative Tube and rail services or local/replacement bus routes. This is due to track work.

London Overground Mildmay line

The following closures are due to Network Rail maintenance work.

Friday 16 January: There is no southbound service from Willesden Junction to Shepherd’s Bush until 06:15.

Elizabeth line

Sunday 18 January: There is a reduced service between Paddington and Maidenhead / Heathrow due to Network Rail maintenance work.

Northern line

Until late spring 2026: There is no service between Camden Town and Kennington (via Bank) after 22:00 on Mondays to Thursdays. After 22:00 each night on Mondays to Thursdays, Northern line services will still run between Camden Town and Kennington via Charing Cross. On Friday evenings and at weekends, services via Bank will run as normal. Night Tube services via Charing Cross are not affected.
