Kian and Rory Henderson, aged 12 and 10, from West Yorkshire, have organised the walk from Bradford to Leeds to raise awareness of human rights worldwide.

The idea was inspired by their family ties to Iran and growing concern for relatives amid ongoing unrest in the country.

Kian said: “We want to promote human rights and respect that everyone has their own views about how and where these are most needed at the moment.”

Rory added: “At the moment, we want to know that our family in Iran are safe and also share with people how much we love Iran, which is our heritage.”

The walk will begin at 10am on Sunday, January 18, starting from Roberts Park, near the café.

Participants will follow the canal route to Leeds Train Station.

The event is open to all supporters of human rights, regardless of where they believe these rights are most at risk.

Walkers are encouraged to donate to a human rights charity of their choice.

The brothers have also requested that no flags be displayed during the event to avoid representing conflicting worldviews.

Walkers are welcome to join for any part of the journey and are advised to bring a packed lunch.

According to the UN, human rights are universal, inherent rights and freedoms belonging to every person from birth, regardless of race, sex, nationality, or any other status, ensuring dignity, equality, and fairness.
