“The food was tasty and really good value for money – great portion sizes and plenty of choice.

“All the staff were friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better.

“The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, perfect for a family get-together.

“Would definitely recommend and look forward to returning soon.”

A different customer named Poppy added: “Visited Saturday evening and had a lovely meal. The service was excellent as food came out fast and staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

“Definitely would recommend others to come here.”

And another reviewer posted: “Nice friendly bar staff and vibe in this pub. Visited with my daughter and had lunch, quick and friendly service.”

However, one customer left after a negative experience and said they will ‘most definitely not be back’.

The guest said: “Popped in for food in between work, ordered a mixed grill for £12.99.

“What came out was the most miserable looking mixed grill I’ve ever seen, tiny portions for the price, sausage burnt and generally not very nice.

“I ate it because I had to rush off to my next work meeting, the staff member collected my plate and asked if it was all ok, I told her ‘not really’ and that it wasn’t enjoyable.

“Expecting an apology at least, she didn’t seem to care and went back behind the bar.

“I waited for five minutes to see if a manager might come and speak to me but no one came so I left.

“Wish I’d have read the reviews beforehand but will most definitely not be back.”

A manager of the Beggar Bush pub responded: “So sorry for your experience, I have spoken to the staff member on shift that day and when table was checked, you did complain about the portion.

“Unfortunately that is to our specifications, via our head office. No other complaints were made at the time and a manager wasn’t asked for.

“Otherwise the member of staff would have called myself and I would have been happy to come and talk to you.

“When your table was cleared, you had eaten absolutely everything but the pineapple.

“If you would like to contact myself I will happily talk to you and try and resolve your issues.”
