The freezing weather is set to return to the capital

The freezing weather is set to return to the capital, according to forecasters at the BBC. On Friday, January 30, we are forecast sleet with a gentle breeze, with temperatures set to reach a possible high of 5C and hitting lows of 0C. Sleet is expected to fall from 6am until 10am and then again from 5pm until 3am Saturday, January 31 with the weather then expected to turn to light snow into the weekend.

The Met Office’s day-by-day forecast doesn’t stretch to January 30, but its long-range forecast also predicts colder weather with the possibility of snow. It reads: “Later in the period, there is an increased chance that conditions will turn colder.

“This aspect of the forecast is still somewhat uncertain but the potential transition to colder weather also increases the chance of snow across parts of the country.”

WX Charts also forecasts the white stuff heading our way. Its dramatic weather maps show a snow cloud heading straight to the capital from a westerly direction before heading off northwards.

The snow is characterised by purple shading, with darker tones representing heavier snowfall. This suggests 2mm of snow will fall on London per hour.
