A man has been jailed for kicking a North Wales police officer while in custody.

The force said violence against its staff was “completely unacceptable”.

Roland Michael Doano, 47, of no fixed abode, appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court charged with assaulting an emergency services worker.

Officers had attended Bangor bus station, Gwynedd, on Thursday, January 15, following reports of altercation.

Doano was arrested and taken to custody by officers where he became aggressive and kicked an officer in the chest.

District Inspector Jamie Owens said: “Violence against emergency workers is completely unacceptable, and we will never tolerate it here in Gwynedd.

“Our officers come to work each day to keep the public safe, and they deserve to carry out their duties without fear of assault.

“We will continue to take robust action against anyone who threatens the safety of our officers or the wider community.”
