BOCKOS FRANKEL may have tasted defeat for the first time in his career last week at Nottingham in his Arc Standard Trophy heat, but he can bounce back with an emphatic win in tonight’s final at 7.44, live on PGR.

Lining up in the first of four opens on the 12-race card from Colwick Park, the exciting Bev Lochead-owned speedster is the first of four Kevin Boon-trained trackers with big claims this evening and looks good to get the ball rolling for the Suffolk Downs-based handler.

On what was his first competitive start over a stiff four bends since November, the two-year-old son of Dorotas Wildcat was reeled in late by Rossa Vita in their 500m qualifier.

He will no doubt strip fitter and come on a bundle for that outing and, blessed with top-class early speed, can race clear and this time last home.

Kennelmate Farneys Tearaway gets the nod in the second open at 8.19, a standard contest also over 500m.

The lightly-raced youngster moved well in a trial over 480m after a moderate start and is a promising sort.

A step up to the more demanding four bends will suit and he can be in control by the third turn.

The other two opens are heats of the nottingham-greyhounds.co.uk Sprint Trophy over 305m, and Boon’s Bockos Buster will prove incredibly tough to beat from trap four in the first at 8.54.

With a vacant box on his immediate outside, there will be plenty of racing room for the National Sprint fourth and Scurry Gold Cup finalist.

He tore round in 17.52sec over course and distance last week and his pace and class can take him to the front at the opening bend.

Farney Millie represents Boon in the second heat at 9.11 and has claims, but preference is for Mark Russell’s Da Don after a decent second behind Bockos Buster last week.

Clear of his rivals on the clock, he can prove too hot for them to handle and get back to winning ways in style.
