A man was taken to hospital for treatment after a fight which left a ‘puddle of blood’ on the pavement. Vernon Road in Bredbury, Stockport was closed on Saturday evening following the incident.
It came after two men had a fight in the street, police said. One was taken to hospital with ‘injuries not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing at this stage’.
A cordon was put in place near The Queens pub with two police vans at the scene. It’s thought the fight was not connected with the pub.
One witness said: “I don’t know what’s happened but I was stood quite a distance away and I could see clearly see a puddle of blood on the pavement opposite the pub. There was quite a significant amount of blood.
“There were two police vans there and one of the policemen told they’d been there since 4pm.”
In a post on Facebook around 4pm on Saturday The Queens said: “Due to an incident on Vernon road the front doors are closed to the pub however the back doors are open the front doors will re open as soon as possible.”
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Two males involved in a fight. One male was taken to hospital with injuries suffered but they are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing at this stage. Enquiries are ongoing.”
