Kate Middleton channeled wintertime blues with her Chris Kerr coat during a visit to Scotland alongside her husband Prince William on Tuesday.
The Princess of Wales wore a blue coat with a plaid checked pattern in varying shades. The coat was constructed with precise tailoring by London-based designer Chris Kerr, featuring such details and elements as sharp shoulders, long sleeves and angular lapels and hip pockets with a double-breasted silhouette.

Along with her Chris Kerr coat, Middleton offset her blue look with a pair of black suede Gianvito Rossi boots. The British royal family member also wore a black turtleneck and accessorized her look with a pair of oval sapphire drop earrings — not only accentuating her coat, but also complementing her engagement ring, which previously belonged to Prince William’s mother, the late Princess Diana.
Chris Kerr’s bespoke tailor label was founded by the designer’s father in 1960. Kerr’s father, known as Mr. Eddie on the designer’s official website, was the go-to tailor for several stars of the “swinging sixties.”

Chris Kerr has become a favorite among Kate Middleton’s frequent London-based designers and labels. Among her winter wear and coats, the Princess of Wales tends to gravitate toward Kerr’s tailored pieces.
For Middleton’s “Together at Christmas” carol service in December 2023, the British royal wore a white Chris Kerr coat over a pair of gold button-adorned Holland Cooper trousers and a white sweater — a monochrome approach to wintertime styling.

Both in style and silhouette, Middleton’s Chris Kerr blue coat offered striking similarities to the Princess of Wales’ Blazé Milano brown coat, which she wore for 2025 Christmas Day services alongside members of the British royal family.
Middleton is a supporter of several London-based labels and designers like Chris Kerr. McQueen, Me + Em and Self-Portrait are among the brands from the United Kingdom the British royal has supported over the years, wearing pieces aforementioned designers and brands for royal events and outings in 2025 and to start 2026.
