A woman has died after being hit by a car in Sheffield, with the police now appealing for witnesses.

South Yorkshire Police were called to Halifax Road, near to the junction with Kilner Way, in Sheffield at 5.43am this morning. There, a black Audi had hit a pedestrian.

Alongside Yorkshire Ambulance Service, the police rushed to the crash. Sadly, a woman in her 60s was later pronounced as dead at the scene.

Her family have now been informed, and they are receiving support. The driver of the Audi remained on the scene and is helping the police in their investigation.

The police said: “We are appealing for information, witnesses and footage following a fatal collision on Halifax Road in Sheffield earlier today (Tuesday 20 January).

We were called at 5.43am this morning following a report of a collision involving a black Audi and a pedestrian on Halifax Road, near the junction with Kilner Way.

Officers attended alongside the ambulance service and sadly, a woman in her 60s was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family have been informed and are being supported by officers.

“The driver of the Audi remained at the scene and has been cooperating with our officers’ enquiries.

“Halifax Road was closed in both directions while officers carried out enquiries at the scene but has since been fully reopened. We are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant footage which could aid our investigation to please contact us.”
