A new Royal Family member is on the way as Princess Alexandra’s granddaughter announces she is expecting her first child.

Flora Vesterberg, who is 62nd in line to the throne, announced her pregnancy with a post on Instagram on Tuesday.

The art historian, 31, looked glowing as she cradled her growing bump in a photograph with her husband of five years, Timothy Vesterberg.

“Delighted to share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We’re truly over the moon. Photograph by my father,” Flora wrote in the caption.

Flora’s grandmother, Princess Alexandra, was a cousin of Queen Elizabeth II and is still considered a working member of the Royal Family at 89-years-old.

Her father is James Ogilvy, a landscape designer and founder of British magazine, Luxury Briefing.

Hundreds of well-wishers rushed to the comments to congratulate the couple on their happy news.

“So much love from very excited grandparents,” Flora’s mother Julia Ogilvy wrote.

“How exciting – many congratulations to you both,” added fashion designer Phillipa Lepley, who designed Flora’s wedding dress.

“Congratulations Flora! Lovely photo James,” Laura Jane Ogilvy commented.

While Flora does not have a royal title or undertake royal duties, the PhD student is often seen at royal events, including on the balcony of Buckingham Palace for Trooping the Colour, at royal weddings, and Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral.

Most recently, she attended the Royal Family Christmas lunch at Buckingham Palace in December 2025. She and her family attend the lunch every year.

A number of royals also attended her marriage blessing in 2021, including Prince Edward, Duchess Sophie, and Lady Amelia Windsor.

Last year, Flora became the first royal to speak openly about being diagnosed with autism.

She penned a personal essay about her experience of being diagnosed with the condition at the age of 30.

“I’ve struggled quietly with the challenges of my neurodiversity since childhood, but am now also able to perceive its strengths,” she wrote for British Vogue.

“As a result of the diagnosis, I feel empowered by having a framework with which to understand my experiences and sensitivities. It brings a sense of relief as well as validation.

“I know that this will not only help me to be kinder to myself, but also help my community to support me effectively.”

Flora met her husband in May 2019 when the Swedish financial director visited an art exhibition that she had curated in London.

They quickly fell in love and Timothy proposed just six months later.

They got married at The Chapel Royal of St James’s Palace in September 2020. Due to Covid restrictions at the time, they had a larger ceremony in 2021 where they invited more members of their extended family.
