In front of more than 10,000 spectators in Herning, Germany showed maturity and character to claim their second win in the Main Round and strengthen their position in the race for a semi-final spot at the EHF EURO 2026. In the second Main Round matchday, Alfred Gislason’s side defeated Norway 30:28, staying perfect in this phase.
After a slower start, Germany went into the break two goals down (15:17), but raised their level in the second half — especially in defence — which allowed them to turn the game around and, in the closing minutes, break the resistance of a stubborn Norway team.
The key figure in the comeback was outstanding goalkeeper Andreas Wolff, who repeatedly denied clear chances and lifted his team at crucial moments. He finished the match with an incredible 22 saves and was named Player of the Match.
In attack, Marko Grgić stood out the most. Alongside Wolff, he brought fresh energy — particularly with long-range solutions from beyond nine metres when Germany struggled to find answers through their usual patterns. He ended the game with seven goals.
For Norway, goalkeeper Torbjørn Bergerud also had a strong performance with 10 saves, while Sander Sagosen, August Pedersen and Kevin Gulliksen scored five goals each.
In the next round, Germany face an extremely tough challenge against Denmark, the reigning world and Olympic champions — a clash that could prove decisive for the final standings in the group.
