Britain’s Got Talent was thrown into chaos minutes into its second semi-final as Simon Cowell made an admission about ‘looking stupid’.

After LED dancers The Blackouts received Amanda Holden’s golden buzzer and singer Vinnie McKee was sent through to the final by the public, eight acts were looking to follow in their footsteps.

Being given power of using the new golden buzzer that sends acts straight to the final was Simon, with Ant and Dec joking ‘the boss’ had all the power.

Up first on Saturday night (May 3) was Lil M’s, a young dancegroup from TDM Dance School in Port Talbot who once again dressed up as minions.

During their audition in Blackpool, the youngers dressed Simon up like Despicable Me’s Gru by adding a fake long nose to his face.

Returning for their second performance, the children received a standing ovation from the judges after another energetic routine.

The highlight of the performance arrived when two of the dancers shot Simon with yellow and blue streamers, covering the former X Factor judge from head to toe.

Speaking after the performance, Simon said: “At least you didn’t make me look stupid tonight. I really liked your first audition. I was a bit concerned it could get a bit boring the second time.

“It didn’t because I think this was better than your first audition. The music was brilliant, I could see a lot more work’s gone into it.

“You think you have a chance of winning, you never know on this show. I think the public are going to love you.”

Asked what they would spend the £250,000 prize money on if they won, one of the dancers hilariously said they’d use it all on bananas.

Joining in on the compliments, Alesha Dixon said: “What a start to the night, it’s never easy being the first up, but I think you captured the spirit of this show with so much joy and energy.

“It’s not easy maintaining that level of energy from start to finish… I love that you did this to Simon.”

Britain’s Got Talent airs at 7pm on Saturday nights at 7pm on ITV1 and ITVX
