Katie Price’s ex-husband has spoken out in the wake of her surprise fourth wedding, saying: “She doesn’t live in the real world.” The star’s second husband Alex Reid was married to Katie between 2010 and 2012 and has described her decision as “irresponsible”.

Speaking after Katie wed Lee Andrews just days after meeting in a ‘quickie’ service in Dubai, where he lives, Alex told The Mirror : “It’s irresponsible on your family and the children to marry someone you don’t know.”

He continued: “Is he going to move to the UK? Or is she going to move to Dubai?” adding: “I don’t get her. I was married to her, and I don’t get her. I don’t think she knows herself.”

Alex, 50, added: “I genuinely wish the man good luck marrying her,” saying: “I hope the marriage lasts longer than the court-ordered debts that she still owes me and to many others, demonstrating accountability and responsibility.

“It’s not really her strong point. Maybe, he could be the best thing in the world to happen to her. He could help her pay her debts and be more accountable with money.”

While Katie may be on cloud nine, this doesn’t appear to be the case for some of those closest to her. Sources close to the former model, 47, had no idea about her engagement or her wedding. Katie had only met her new husband days earlier, having first hit it off via Instagram direct messages.

Alex said: “Her family said they’re distraught, I read – I can understand that. It must not be nice for the kids, the younger ones, they don’t even know this guy.”

Speaking about Lee, who claims to be a millionaire, he said: “He could be madly in love, good for him if he is. Or could he be doing it for publicity? Who knows. I hope he’s in it for love and is a great moral influence – that would be nice.”

Alex says he’s not in a position to give advice to her new husband, but added: “If he’s real, he knows what he’s doing. You can’t acquire the amount of wealth he has and be successful in his business without being astute.”

MMA star Alex, who met Katie soon after her split from Peter Andre, married in similarly dramatic fashion – by going to Las Vegas. He now claims he spent a staggering £90,000 on Price’s engagement and wedding rings.

He said: “The difference is I had been with her for seven months, that’s still nowhere near enough time to know someone.” He added that before he met Katie, he was an “alpha male” but transformed into a “gopher”.

Katie’s shock engagement and subsequent marriage came just days after it emerged that she and her boyfriend, JJ Slater, 33, had parted ways after around three years. “Maybe the romance was dead a long time ago, but poor JJ,” Alex said, adding: “I can’t talk – I got with Katie after Peter.”

He added: “Responsibility and trust are the foundation of a successful marriage and to this point, she hasn’t shown any of her husbands she’s capable of holding those values.”

Alex says he was “madly in love” with Katie but now believes that their relationship wasn’t “real love”. He said: “I now know what real love is with my children and current partner,” adding: “It’s that we have absolute trust and got each other’s backs, I never felt that [with Katie].”

Alex, who is a practising Christian, said his marriage vows “meant something” to him, but he claims that his marriage to Price was “a show, it was a pantomime”.

Their wedding was serialised by ITV in the three-part special, Katie & Alex: For Better For Worse, which documented their summer wedding in the UK and their honeymoon. It was reported that the former couple landed a six-figure pay cheque for the show, which first aired on July 14, 2010.

The Mirror has approached Katie Price’s spokesperson for comment.
