Established in 2022, Corecom Tech Academy set itself a clear mission to tackle the region’s digital skills shortage by creating 60 new tech roles in its first two years of trading for people across Yorkshire and beyond.
Today, the Academy has announced that this initial commitment has not only been met but exceeded, with a turnover in excess of the £2m forecast in the process.
The Academy has already built relationships with some of the UK’s biggest organisations, laying the groundwork for an even more ambitious future.
Now, on the launch of the academy’s new branding and website, it is setting its sights even higher. Over the next three years, the academy aims to create 1,000 new role opportunities in tech across the UK, accelerating its mission to build a more inclusive, future‑ready tech workforce. With revenue forecast near £4m in 2026 its ambitions will push this in excess of £10m in 2027 and £16m in 2028.

The next phase will open further direct pathways into tech, helping diverse individuals step confidently into meaningful, long‑term careers.
James Taylor, MD at Corecom Tech Academy, said: “Reaching and surpassing our initial target is a proud moment for everyone involved, but this is only the beginning. Demand for skilled tech professionals continues to grow, and employers are backing our vision of creating fair, accessible routes into the industry. Our ambition to create 1,000 tech roles over the next three years reflects both the scale of the skills challenge and our commitment to closing diversity gaps in tech.”
A deep commitment to diversity and inclusion sits at the heart of Corecom Tech Academy’s mission. The Academy’s diversity outcomes over the past three years show real progress in closing the diversity gap in tech by continuing to build inclusive talent pipelines – opening doors for individuals who may have previously faced barriers to entering the tech sector.
Academy director Thomas Crabtree added: “This milestone marks a significant step forward in addressing the widening digital skills gap highlighted by industry leaders and reinforces our position as one of the region’s most impactful emerging tech talent initiatives.”
Corecom Tech Academy’s unique approach to “Recruit Train Deploy,” combining hands-on training, real world project experience, and direct pathways into employment – has also resonated strongly with tech newcomers, businesses, and the wider tech community.
Over the past three years, the academy has gained national recognition for its work, securing awards including Education and Training at the UK Tech Startup Awards 2025 and Inspiring the Next Generation at the Tech Impact Awards 2025, hosted by London Tech Week.
