Caremark Leeds and Bradford launched its first-ever Carer of the Year awards, with nearly 60 staff members honoured across two ceremonies.

All winners were selected based on nominations from customers, colleagues and the management team.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Dan Cohen, said: “It’s clear that the carers are doing amazing work ensuring residents can live independently at home and with dignity.

“On behalf of the city of Leeds, I would like to say a huge thank you for everything they do and I was honoured to be asked to present the awards.”

Shifau Bello, 33, was named Care Assistant of the Year after receiving the most customer nominations.

Ms Bello said: “I was honoured just to be nominated for the awards.

“It showed me that my hard work and effort has not go unnoticed and that motivates me to do even more for my customers.”

Caremark Leeds and Bradford has been operating since 2008 and was among the first 15 franchises under the Caremark brand, which now has 140 companies providing care across the UK and Ireland.

The company employs 150 staff and delivers around 3,000 hours of care each week.
