Kirkstall Labour Party have reselected Cllr Hannah Bithell to stand in the May elections 2026.

A spokesperson from Kirkstall Labour Party said: “We are delighted that Hannah is willing to stand again. She has been a dedicated public servant and made a massive impact on the local area.

“Her dedication to helping local people with issues, impacting infrastructure and having wider influence on the city as a whole is outstanding.

“In the coming year we hope she will be elected for another term so that she can continue to impact our area and help residents with any issues that come up. The best thing about Hannah is how open she is, people know who she is and how to get in touch with her and we are convinced this means residents are more likely to come forward and get the support that they need.”

Kirkstall Labour say Cllr Bithell has installed benches across the ward, advocated for residents on a range of different case work issues, created and led a strategic group for Kirkstall Bridge Shopping Centre and Savins Mill Way shops, the result of which was lowering antisocial behaviour and theft from shop by 90%.

They say she has spearheaded individual sign improvements across the ward, increased 20mph zone signs, tackled HGVs on St Anns Lane and Argie Avenue and advocated for double yellow lines to protect junctions and bin routes across the ward.

The current political make up of Kirkstall ward is three Labour councillors. Independent candidate Stuart Long has also announced his intentions to stand in the ward.

WLD will be approaching candidates from all seven wards in our patch for 300-word profiles ahead of the Leeds City Council elections. These will be published a fortnight before the elections on 7 May.

All 33 council wards in Leeds will be contested at the elections.
