New cost of living payments will be available to help struggling families this summer.
More cash will be distributed from the Household Support Fund (HSF) after the Government confirmed it would continue for the rest of the year.
Money from the fund is given to local councils who then decide how to spend it, and which groups to help.

Local authorities run their individual schemes and decide when they open at close during points of the year.
Most offer cash grants to eligible residents.
Households normally need to show they are suffering financial hardship and struggling to afford basic essentials like food and energy to be successful.
Applicants don’t necessarily need to be claiming benefits but people may not be able to get cash if they have received HSF support over the previous 12 months.

Birmingham City Council will be offering £200 grants and has confirmed the date its summer round of funding will open for new applications.
In a new update, the council said applications would open in June.

The Birmingham Voluntary Service Council, which works with the city council to distribute hardship grants, said: “Please be advised that enquiries will reopen in June 2025.
“If you are not currently on the waiting list, and it has now been 12 months since your household last received a grant payment, you will be able to submit a new enquiry once the scheme reopens in June 2025.”
