A city centre bar has reopened following a major transformation. Harrison’s Pub, which first opened in March 2019, occupies a Grade II–listed building on the corner of Victoria Street and North John Street in Liverpool city centre.
The venue has undergone several reinventions over the years, previously trading under names such as Beaconsfield and Cains, and briefly as the Three Sisters, before being taken over by its current owners in 2019.
Harrison’s informed customers of its closure last week, telling them to keep their eyes peeled for results of the renovation.
A post on Facebook said: “We will be closed for the next few days to complete our renovation. We can’t wait for you to enjoy.” The bar reopened yesterday, January 31, with a new look sporting reclaimed elements from the building.

The venue now sports a green paint drenching and distressed wood finishes for a traditional pub feeling, replacing the turquoise and white colours of its past life. The Liver Bird mural from local artist Paul Curtis has also been removed.
Nicola Halton, head of business development at Harrison’s Pub, said: “We have done some research into the history of the venue and spoken to several of our regulars and decided to strip the venue back to the pub it once was many years ago.
“It was fascinating to uncover some of the original features during the refurbishment process, and now that we have completed phase one, the site is looking very similar to what it did back in the 1980s.”

Harrison’s will continue receiving updates over the course of the coming months to uncover more of the original venue’s features.
Nicola added: “Phase two will take place over the summer when the original ceiling that had been hidden by a false ceiling will be stripped back and renovated.
“The new look feels much warmer and more welcoming, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming back our regulars as well as new future friends to Harrison’s Pub.”
