Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street’s Carl Webster hatches a sinister plan to set fire to the Chariot Square Hotel next week, after Ryan Connor sacks him on the spot. But will he succeed in razing Debbie’s business to the ground?
Before being locked up, Debbie gives Ryan orders to keep the hotel up and running for however long she is sent down. So, when Carl refuses to help with an important errand, Ryan sees no choice but to fire him.
Carl is livid and hellbent on revenge – leading him to devise a sick scheme to send the hotel up in flames…
“Carl becomes more and more devilish by the day,” our Corrie source reveals. “It all kicks off with Ryan asking him to put some QR code stickers up around the hotel. It’s not a huge ask, but Carl is still miffed at the fact that Debbie put Ryan in charge instead of him, so he refuses to play ball.

“Sensing hostility, Ronnie backs Ryan, but Carl isn’t up for listening to his stepdad.
“Ryan later finds the QR stickers in the bin, which is the final straw that leads him to sack Carl. However, he doesn’t have the slightest clue about how dangerous Carl’s next move will be…”
Meanwhile, Adam Barlow informs Carl that there’s a ray of hope for Debbie. As Debbie has recently suffered another Transient Ischemic Attack (TIA), or mini-stroke, he’s hoping to file this as evidence for a sentence reduction.
No matter how Carl responds, it’s clear that he still has zero empathy for his mum, as he later plots to set fire to her beloved livelihood – purely to get his own back on Ryan.

With Carl so full of rage, will he successfully blow up the Chariot Square? And if so, might the lives of innocent locals be on the line?
Speaking recently about how prison will change her beloved character, Sue Devaney – who plays Debbie – told us: “She’s so frightened. She’s never been anywhere like that. Everything’s going to be stripped from her.
“Debbie’s mask is going to be gone, isn’t it? The dementia is taking every last bit from her, but also the prison is gonna be taking everything from her. And it’s how she survives that.”
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
