The winners were voted by the British viewing public and announced this evening

It was a clean sweep for Emmerdale at tonight’s TV Choice Awards, with the soap bagging awards in three categories. Danny Miller won Best Soap Performance for his portrayal of Aaron Dingle, while Bradley Riches was awarded Best Soap Newcomer after joining Lewis Barton in May last year. The cast were also thrilled to land the much-coveted award for Best Soap.

Some of Britain’s most loved TV stars stepped out on the red carpet ahead of the ceremony, now in its 29th year. Held at The London Hilton on Park Lane and hosted by Jason Manford, the evening saw Call The Midwife scoop Best Family Drama, while Netflix’s Adolescence continued off the back of its Golden Globes success by triumphing as Best New Drama. But its stars Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham failed to fend off Jenny Agutter, who was awarded the gong for Best Drama Performance in Call The Midwife.

Ruth Jones took home the Best Comedy Performance trophy and there was further joy for Gavin & Stacey after it was named Best Comedy Show. The Traitors claimed victory as the Best Reality Show for the first time, whilst Strictly Come Dancing waltzed off with Best Talent Show prize.

With four nominations on the shortlist, Lee Mack celebrated a win for his Saturday night hit The 1% Club as Best Game Show.
