TikTok creator @ instamove.uk recently shared a video listing the top five safest boroughs in London, placing Greenwich at number four.

The video, which has received more than 385,000 views and 23,000 likes, describes the area as “a safe, community-minded area with the charm of the riverside and its historic landmarks”.

The Royal Borough of Greenwich is home to historic sites including the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich Park, and Greenwich Market.

The borough has riverside attractions, residential neighbourhoods and modern developments.

While some parts of Greenwich are considered very safe, crime statistics across the borough show a more mixed picture.

Data from Police.uk revealed that from December 2024 to November 2025, there were between 112 and 118 crimes per 1,000 residents, above the UK national average of 91.7 but below London’s overall rate of 145.9 per 1,000.

Eltham Page, a suburban area, recorded around 84.5 crimes per 1,000 residents, making it one of the quieter parts of the borough.

Woolwich Common also saw around 84 crimes per 1,000 residents.

Some parts of Blackheath, meanwhile, recorded about 144–145 crimes per 1,000 residents, closer to the borough average.

Greenwich has invested heavily in community safety, supporting more than 270 Neighbourhood Watch schemes and working closely with the Metropolitan Police.

Transport links make the borough well-connected, with the DLR, Overground, and Elizabeth line providing easy access to central London and bus routes linking residents across south-east London.

Property prices across the borough vary, with the average house price at roughly £553,688, terraced houses around £620,000, flats at £423,000, and semi-detached homes averaging £710,000.

Canada Water, Wimbledon, Richmond, and Hampstead and Belsize Park were the other areas listed in the TikTok video.
