Road closures remain in Infirmary Road, Oxford Street, Infirmary Square, Carlton Street, York Road, Lower Brown Street, The Gateway and Gosling Street.
The Infirmary Road junction with Aylestone Road and the Newarke Street junction with Oxford Street is also shut.
The force said there was no access to Infirmary Road by turning right from Welford Road.
“NHS staff will be given access to the hospital car park but will need to provide their ID to officers at the scene,” police said.
