A Midsummer Night’s Dream cast, headshots supplied by the production
Birmingham Rep has revealed the full cast for its forthcoming production of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, co-directed by artistic director Joe Murphy and deputy artistic director Madeleine Kludje.
Half of the cast are from Birmingham and the West Midlands, with three performers selected through an open casting call launched by the venue last year.
Adam Carver will play Puck, with Keiren Hamilton-Amos as Snug and Moth, Qasim Mahmood as Demetrius, and Haydn Oakley as Theseus and Oberon. The open casting call has led to Lottie Beck-Johnson making her professional stage debut as Starveling and Cobweb, James Tanton appearing as Snout and Mustardseed, and Charlotte Wallis making her professional stage debut as Helena.
They are joined by Isabel Adomakoh-Young as Hermia, Omar Malik as Bottom, Hannah McPake as Quince, Ellena Vincent as Titania and Hippolyta, Evie Ward-Drummond as Lysandra, Andy Watkins as Egeus, and Lisa Zahra as Flute.
The creative team also includes set and costume designer Carl Davies, lighting designer Andy Pike, sound designer Claire Windsor, fight director Kev McCurdy, movement director and choreographer Asha Jennings-Grant, voice coach Nia Lynn, casting director Marc Frankum and production manager Ian Taylor.
The production follows a teenager who is ordered to marry a man rather than the woman she loves and flees into an enchanted forest, where relationships shift and tensions among the fairies affect the natural world.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream runs at Birmingham Rep from 25 April to 24 May, with tickets on sale now.
