A police dispersal order has been put in place over ‘planned disorder’ involving teenagers around a park in south Manchester. Officers from GMP have the ability to exclude people from a specified area for 36 hours.

It followed reports of planned disorder in the area involving a group of youths. The S35 order was introduced at 2pm on Thursday (February 5) and will run until 2am on Saturday (February 7).

The additional police powers give officers the right to exclude a person, or people, from an area for up to 48 hours through a written notice. The dispersal order is contained within the boundaries of Monton Street, Denmark Road, Oxford Road, and Moss Lane East.

Neighbourhood Inspector Zac Campbell for Gorton and Levenshulme policing team said: “These measures are in place to prevent further disorder and ensure the safety of those living, working and visiting the area. We will not tolerate ant-isocial behaviour and will take robust action against anyone involved.

“These powers are crucial to preventing any further offences from taking place. If you have any concerns or any information, then please speak to those officers who are there to help, there will be extra patrols in the area during this time.”
