An air ambulance was scrambled to a scene in Manchester on Sunday afternoon (May 4) after a cyclist was injured in a serious crash on Hyde Road.

Police cordoned off the main route in both directions near to Gorton following the collision. A pedal bike was pictured on the ground at the roadside.

It’s understood a cyclist, a male whose age was not confirmed, was rushed to hospital from the scene with a head injury. No further details were confirmed.

Pictures from the scene showed a number of traffic officers in attendance as the busy A-road was taped off by police for a number of hours on Sunday.

Officers were also stationed at the junction with Gratrix Street, with the pedal bike seen on the ground. The A57 was closed off between Reddish Lane and Willow Grove.

An air ambulance was also scrambled and landed nearby on a park following the incident. A number of other cars were pictured within the cordon.
