This is down to a high-pressure front which is becoming ‘stuck’ over the country, keeping at bay any unsettled weather trying to come in from the Atlantic.

With constant blue skies on the horizon, it likely won’t be before the middle of the month that we see any sign of much-needed rainfall.

Glasgow will see the mercury soar to 17C and then 18C by Friday.

Highland communities like Mallaig, Fort William and Aviemore are set to be the country’s hottest spots come Saturday, at 21C.
