Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street’s Glenda Shuttleworth is left delighted next week, as Carla Connor promotes her to manager of the Rovers Return.

With Jenny Connor’s plans to buy back The Rovers scuppered after Daisy Midgeley left her high and dry, she’s packed up and moved back into Rita Tanner’s flat, leaving Carla in full control of the boozer.

And the straight-talking businesswoman wastes no time appointing a new person to take the helm at the iconic pub.

“Glenda’s going up in the world. Well, maybe just in Weatherfield – either way, this is huge for her,” our Coronation Street source shares.

“Her brash confidence and capable dependability make her perfect for the role, and savvy Carla has recognised her potential.

“Though, she might face some jealousy from her envious colleagues considering Sean’s worked there knocking on 20 years without promotion!”

It’s not long before things go awry though, as overworked Glenda later tells Carla that with Daisy gone and Ryan Connor working for Debbie, they’re short staffed and need a new barmaid.

“With a spot open at the legendary Rovers, there’s sure to be no lack of applicants,” our insider adds.

“The question is, will it be an existing Weatherfield resident who’s set to start pulling pints, or could we see an exciting new face cause chaos on the cobbles and fill the hole that Daisy has left behind?”

Now that she’s in charge, what changes will glamorous Glenda introduce during her Rovers reign – more campy cruise ship karaoke, perhaps? Saturday night performances from the Little Big Shotz? Glitter in the hotpot?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
