In the recent episode of Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids on More4, viewers watched as the Owens family pressed on with their project to restore the dilapidated farmhouse known as ‘Anty John’s’, all while managing their Yorkshire farm.
As they prepared their sheep for sale, Amanda updated fans on Clive’s recovery from his hip surgery, revealing he was now crutch-free.
Narrating the scene, she remarked: “He’s lost his crutches, actually! It puts him in a bit of a better humour when he can come outside and be a part of what’s going on. It’s been very frustrating for him… that’s me being polite!”
During a light-hearted exchange while tending to the sheep, Amanda teased Clive: “You have been unbearable!”
Clive chuckled off her candid comment, insisting he had kept to himself post-operation, reports Manchester Evening News.
He defended himself, saying: “I’ve kept myself to myself, I’ve minded my own business. I don’t think I’ve shouted at anybody or anything.”
Amanda, however, stood her ground, reminding him of a particular day post-surgery when he was visibly upset.
She recounted: “There was one day you were sat in your underpants staring at the floor in the kitchen, yeah? You were really angry.”
As Clive expressed how frustrating and horrible the experience was for him, Amanda playfully retorted: “You are a frustrating and horrible thing.”
The banter appeared to be all in good spirits, though, as the couple shared a laugh amidst their farming duties.
Clive underwent surgery at the end of last year, and Amanda discussed his recovery process during an appearance on ITV’s Lorraine.
At that time, she remarked: “He has had a hip replacement and he’s a terrible patient.
“Everybody’s just getting on and stuff’s getting done but just not how he would like it. But most of the time we don’t care.”
The couple decided to part ways in 2022 after more than twenty years of marriage. Amanda and Owen first crossed paths in the late 90s when she became Clive’s apprentice shepherdess.
They exchanged vows in 2000 and have since welcomed nine children, who feature on their television shows.
Despite their separation, they continue to collaborate as a family to restore ‘Anty John’s’ property to its former glory.
