A former real ale house on Bristol’s famous Gloucester Road is set to reopen as a brand new venue next week.
The Gloucester Road Ale House and Kitchen, located at 99 Gloucester Road, was put on the market via estate agents Maggs & Allen earlier in the year.
The two-storey property was available to let at £22,000 per annum for the ground floor and cellar, or £30,000 to include the additional first floor extended restaurant area.
The listing reads: “The premises has been fully refurbished in recent years and provides approximately 2,366 ft² (220m²) over three storeys”… And “situated in a highly desirable and busy trading position on Gloucester Road in Bishopston within a short distance of The Promenade”.
The new venue, called The G.R.A.K, is described as being ‘stubbornly independent’ according to its brand new Instagram page, as well as a ‘real pub‘ on Gloucester Road.
On its profile, The G.R.A.K confirmed that it will be opening on Wednesday (May 14) and will be “proudly only pouring locally sourced beers, ciders, spirits and soft drinks”.
Not giving too much away just yet, the venue’s Instagram profile is so far decked out with neon-esque orange, yellow and pink tones, with Instagram Highlights titled ‘event space’, ‘artist in residence’ and ‘hire our kitchen’.

The venue says: “We have a beautiful upstairs space with potential to host a range of events. We’re looking for workshops, crafts, live music, comedy, cabaret, talks/presentations and more!
“Here at The G.R.A.K we believe in supporting and showcasing artistic talent. We are looking for a local artist to take over our upstairs room.”
It details how people can get in touch to hire the event space, or apply to become the ‘Artist In Residence’.
For the latter, it goes on to describe its offering, detailing “two event opportunities – one to present your art and the other for your own desire, anything from using the space to run a workshop to hosting your Nanna’s birthday party…
“Two months residency with the opportunity to keep some pieces up on the walls around the pub.”
The team behind The G.R.A.K are also offering up their kitchen for hire. They write: “Are you a foodie? Do you know your way around a kitchen but have never quite had the opportunity of your own kitchen space?
“Well, we have something special just for you! Hire our fully equipped kitchen up to five days a week to serve your food on Gloucester Road.”
