Most trainers stuck to the all-weather facilities on Wednesday morning in the continuing dry spell and with the watered gallop unavailable until the weekend.

Roger Varian was in his usual 6.30am slot on the Al Bahathri Polytrack and a couple of his entries in Saturday’s Lingfield features took centre stage. 

Silvestre de Sousa, who is first jockey for Varian this year, partnered the classy Jabaara in a solo exercise ahead of the Group 3 Chartwell Fillies’ Stakes. Also working without company was Rahiebb (Tony Proctor), who was a good second under a penalty at Haydock last time and could well tackle the Listed Derby Trial.
