Joe Tate has caused havoc in Emmerdale since he returned to the fictional Yorkshire village. The character, played by Ned Porteous, arrived back in the Yorkshire Dales last year on Christmas Eve and has been at the centre of the drama ever since.

Earlier this year, he concocted a sinister plot to steal a kidney from his uncle, Caleb Milligan, as he has suffered from kidney failure. Joe arranged for Caleb to be stabbed with the intention of stealing his kidney.

He desperately needed a kidney for a transplant and was first on the scene after the character, played by William Ash, was targeted. Caleb had no idea that Joe had taken his kidney and thought it was lost in the stabbing.

Caleb isn’t the only character that Joe has wronged during his time back in the village. Billy Fletcher is angry at Joe after he recently engaged in an affair with Dawn Taylor.

Charity Dingle is also enraged by the character after she found out he was the one who spiked Noah Dingle’s drink in February. The subsequent limo crash led to the death of three Amy Wyatt, Suzy Merton and Leyla Cavanagh.

Spoilers have revealed Joe’s secrets will be exposed in tonight’s Emmerdale, which is now available to watch on ITVX. The episode is broadcast at 7.30pm and sees Joe’s secrets exposed at a surprise party at Home Farm.

The spoilers teased: “These simmering tensions reach a dangerous boiling point during Lydia’s surprise birthday celebration at Home Farm. As Joe’s enemies converge, the question isn’t if someone will seek revenge, but who will strike first.”

Viewers following last night’s episode are convinced Joe’s days are numbered as it ended with Caleb realising Joe has more than one enemy.

Michelle said: “Caleb when he realised someone else hates Joe Tate”. Raven commented: “obsessed with that final shot, Joe Tate you are going downnnn !!!”

The actor has kept his cards close to his chest with regards to what exactly happens to his character. However, he admitted tensions are about to explode as Joe’s impact on the village is set to dominate the storyline long after tonight’s episode.

The actor addressed his downfall on an episode of Lorraine this month. Host Christine Lampard quizzed him on the storyline as she said: “It’s going to come to an end soon right?” Ned shot back: “Oh yeah, it’s going to pop off.”
