A series of dramatic dawn raids took place on Friday morning as six more people were arrested in connection with a gang war sweeping Scotland.

The Record attended one property in Barlanark in the east end of Glasgow as specialist cops armed with chainsaws and batons smashed their way into the home at 5am. Officers used the tools to hack away at a full-length window before storming the semi-detached house and seizing two suspects from within.

Screaming was heard inside as cops shouted “Get your hands up” and “Get in the corner now”. Moments later, two men, aged 31 and 26, were led out of the house by plainclothes cops and into unmarked police cars.

One of the men stuck his middle finger up at our reporter while he was marched away in handcuffs as startled neighbours stepped outside to watch the chaos unfold.

Detective later confirmed the pair were arrested in connection with conspiracy to murder and directing serious and organised crime.

Elsewhere, homes were raided in Maryhill, Hamiltonhill, Milton of Campsie and Wishaw.

A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with conspiracy to murder.

Another male, 26, was arrested in connection with drug offences and a 57-year-old man was arrested in connection with proceeds of crime offences.

A 42-year-old man was also arrested in connection with involvement in serious and organised crime.

A number of items – including a quantity of class B drugs and approximately £46,000 in cash – were also seized during the sting.

It is the latest in a series of arrests in connection with a gangland war that broke out in Edinburgh in March.

Chaos erupted in the capital before spilling into Glasgow after a notorious Mr Big was ripped off by mob boss March Richardson’s cronies.

The caged kingpin’s foot soldiers are understood to have stolen a £500k stash of cocaine from the Dubai-based hood.

The Mr Big gangster has since launched a relentless vendetta, torching and shooting at properties and businesses owned by Richardson’s and his associates.

The war later spilled into Glasgow, where members of the infamous Daniels crime clan have also been targeted due to their links to Richardson.

Steven ‘Bonzo’ Daniel, understood to be head of the family, has since fled Glasgow over fears for his safety.

His house in Bishopbriggs was firebombed in the early hours of April 14. Footage showed a man standing outside the large detached home, dousing petrol over the windows and door, before another thug ran up and set it alight.

Flames quickly engluf the front of the building.

The home of Bonzo’s uncle, Norman Daniel, was attacked in the same town at the same time as the turf war feud spiralled out of control.

Footage showed the 72-year-old’s bungalow-type property engulfed in flames after home was targeted by thugs linked to a Dubai-based gangster.

Five days later, on April 19, a property registered Bonzo’ s mother was targeted in a fresh attack last night, as the crime feud showed no signs of slowing down.

Images from the scene showed the property in Glasgow, with windows appearing to be smashed up.

A source told the Record: “The windows are meant to have been bulletproofed after Bonzo was attacked a number of times by the Lyons mob over the last few years.

“But the guys who were sent to attack this house are serious people so if they have managed to crack some holes in the windows it’s possible it was with a gun.”

Multiple cars have been firebombed and homes and businesses have also been torched in Glasgow during the carnage.

Earlier this week, we told how Deuce Private Hire in Stepps was torched just before 2am on Thursday morning.

The Record understands police are probing the possibility that the unit was targeted as part of the ongoing war.

Officers say they are treating the incident as wilful.

Detectives were seen outside the burnt out cab firm. The unit has been cordoned off as an investigation continues.

As of Friday, a total of 32 people have been arrested as part of the ongoing operation to derail the gangland war.

Cops continue to urge those with any information about the attacks to come forward.

Detective Chief Superintendent David Ferry said: “These arrests continue to highlight the hard work and dedication of officers to target those responsible for these attacks.

“While the number of incidents has continued to decrease since the start of this investigation, I want to reiterate that violence will not be tolerated and will not stop until we bring those responsible for this criminality to justice.

“We are working tirelessly to build cases and are following a number of significant lines of enquiry.

“The support of our communities is absolutely vital when it comes to tackling serious organised crime, preventing violence and getting justice for victims and I want to again thank the public for their help and information so far.

“If you know anything about these dangerous and abhorrent acts, please do the right thing and speak to us.”
