A popular Turkish restaurant in Bristol looks set to be opening its second venue in the city.

Signs have appeared on a building on Whiteladies Road, next to the Gail’s bakery site, which contains the Cappadocia branding and reads: “Exquisite Mediterranean cuisine at the new and exclusive Cappadocia Clifton.

“New restaurant coming soon.”

It looks like the new venue will be opening in the former home of Flour & Ash, the popular pizza restaurant from Bristol’s Hyde & Co group, who announced its closure back in January.

Cappadocia, which was recently named among the finalists for a coveted prize at the 2025 British Kebab Awards, already boasts a restaurant on Baldwin Street which opened in April 2024, as well in Bath, which opened back in 2019.

Named after the Turkish destination known for its hot air balloon-filled skies, Cappadocia has become a firm favourite in both cities.

On the menu are dishes such as baba ghanoush, falafel, calamari, flatbread, mezze platters, chicken, mixed grills, and a huge array of kebabs – from shish, to kofta, vegan and veggie options, and more. There’s even a bottomless brunch.

Inside, both restaurants have since become known and loved for their relaxed atmosphere, stunning artwork and decor, and authentic Turkish food – there’s even the option of a takeaway.

The restaurant recently unveiled it would begin “a new Sunday tradition” at Cappadocia Bristol – roast dinners.

Described as a “celebration of bold, honest flavour, from expertly prepared meats to thoughtfully crafted vegetarian options”, a Cappadocia roast is “slow-roasted, richly seasoned and served with all the classics the Cappadocia way”.

Dishes include a lamb or chicken roast dinner (slow cooked rack of lamb or succulent roast chicken breast, served with roast potatoes, seasonal vegetables, a Yorkshire pudding and gravy) or a vegetable Wellington with the same trimmings.

Earlier this year, the Bristol restaurant also had Gogglebox star Tristan Plummer, and Big Brother and This Morning alumni Josie Gibson, dine here.

In a post back in January, the restaurant shared some photos of the TV stars who brought their loved ones to the Bristol venue to enjoy sharing platters, and desserts.

While there’s no official opening date as of yet, fans and locals are already excited by the news.

Sharing a photo onto neighbourhood social media site Nextdoor, one local resident wrote: “Great news for Whiteladies Road… Really pleased to see another unit being occupied and bringing more life back in the evenings.”

The building in which Cappadocia’s Whiteladies Road location looks set to move into – with its pink exterior – was the former home of Flour & Ash, an award-winning Bristol institution founded by Steve Gale and situated on Cheltenham Road prior to its closure in 2020.

Widely regarded as one of the best pizza joints in the city, the brand was taken on by local restaurateurs Nathan Lee, Jason Mead and Kevin Stokes, founders of the well-known Hyde & Co Group, who announced that they would be closing the venue on Sunday, February 16 after four years, in order to focus on other projects.
