A casualty was rushed to hospital after being rescued from the River Irwell.
Emergency services were called out to the river between Manchester city centre and Salford, close to Bridge Street, at around 8.30pm last night (May 9).
Five fire engines were sent out to the scene alongside specialist units, while paramedics also attended.
Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) says the person was rescued using a ladder, before being handed to paramedics for treatment.
A GMFRS spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8.30pm on Friday 9 May, five fire engines from across Greater Manchester, along with the drone and Water Incident Unit from Eccles Community Fire Station, were called to reports of a person in water near Bridge Street, Salford.
“Crews arrived quickly and used a nine-metre ladder to rescue one casualty, who was then taken to hospital by North West Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters were in attendance for approximately 30 minutes.”
