The companies standing up to Trump on DEI
Companies like Costco and Levi’s are rejecting the White House’s position on diversity, equity and inclusion.
Costco is set to open at least three more locations this year, with two of them overseas.
The wholesale warehouse giant has cultivated a fervent following of 140 million card-carrying members around the globe by all-but-perfecting the art of impulse buying.
Costco’s strategy is to attempt to open 25-30 new locations each year, typically with half of them in the U.S. and the other half in international markets, chief financial officer Gary Millerchip said in March.
The Issaquah, Washington-based company operates 905 warehouses around the world and 624 in the United States and Puerto Rico.

Where is Costco set to open stores?
Costco lists three locations with future opening dates on its “Coming Soon” page.
The company’s website says warehouses will open in:
- Pyeongtaek, South Korea in June 2025
- Malmo, Sweeden in July 2025
- Midland, Texas in July of 2025
The company declined to provide details on the locations when USA TODAY reached out for comment.

CEO Ron Vachris said prior to the California openings that the company has “big plans for the rest of the fiscal year,” which ends Aug. 31.
