A pensioner has been detained by police following the death of a woman in Glasgow.
The 71-year-old was found dead after emergency services were called to Newfield Square in the Nitshill area at around 9.45pm on Saturday.
Officers were responding to reports of a disturbance at a home on the street. Ambulance crews attended but the woman was discovered seriously injured and pronounced dead at the scene.
Police have confirmed a 78-year-old man has been detained following the incident. Cops say there is no risk to the wider public.
Extensive enquiries are at an early stage and ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Shortly before 9.45pm on Saturday, May 10 2025 officers attended the report of a disturbance at a house in Newfield Square in Nitshill, Glasgow.
“A 71-year old woman was found seriously injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
“A 78-year-old man has been detained and there is no risk to the wider public. Extensive enquiries, which are at an early stage, are ongoing.”
