A police investigation has been launched after a stolen car was rammed into shutters in Birmingham – causing a fire.
It happened in Cheapside in Deritend in the city centre at around 4am today, Tuesday, May 5.
West Midlands Police and fire crews attended the scene.

West Midlands Fire Service said its crews had ‘left the incident with the police’. West Midlands Police confirmed the ram raid, which was said to have involved a stolen car.
Police said a white Toyota MPV was ‘deliberately reversed’ into a property, understood to have been the Jaguar Midlands bathroom showroom.

The vehicle was driven into the shutters, with a fire breaking out at the venue.
Police said they were looking to find out the cause of the fire.
The car was said to have been stolen in Birmingham shortly before the incident.
A spokesperson at Jaguar Midlands confirmed a car had been driven into the building but did not want to comment further.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after a fire at a property on Cheapside, Birmingham, at around 4am today.
“It’s believed a car was deliberately reversed into shutters at the property, before a fire broke out at the scene.
“We are working to establish the cause of the fire, but no one is believed to have been injured.
“Our enquiries have established that the car, a white Toyota MPV, had been stolen hours earlier in the Birmingham area.
“We’re reviewing CCTV and speaking to witnesses, and would urge anyone with information to get in touch via 101 quoting log 424 of 5 May.”
